News from March 2008 Monday, March 17, 2008, 8:00 p.m. Micah once again has a cold. He was doing great last week, and on Thursday, he was exceptionally alert for our neurology appointment. He did great with all his therapy and school routine too. But in the afternoon he started sneezing a lot, and by the evening, he was all congested and vomited his dinner. He had a horrible croupy cough all night. I have never seen his cold progress so quickly in the past. He continues to have congestion but seems to be getting better already. Today has been a tough day for him, mostly due to the post nasal drip. He has a hard time controlling it, and it makes him vomit. Once again I ask you to pray for his health and protection. As often as he seems to get sick, God continues to protect him from serious illness or hospitalization. I am very saddened to report that another precious baby girl with MPEI passed away on Saturday night. Rylie was 22 months and lived in Windsor, Canada. This MPEI Support Group has been a place where I can identify and encourage and learn. But it is full of heartache as I hear of these little ones suffering and dying. The reality of it being my own son is renewed with each new loss. Rylie unlike the other children that have passed away recently was doing seemingly well overall. She had a cold that turned to pneumonia and within two weeks she is gone. I am reminded of how quick it could happen to Micah as well. Yet I have great hope in our loving God who has sustained us and blessed us and is holding Micah in the palm of His hand. The thing that saddens me most is that these families are having to face each day without Christ and the hope that comes in knowing Him. I feel an urgency to be bold in sharing that message, especially with these families. Please pray that we will be able to share our faith and the message of salvation via the internet. I am praying God will make clear what He wants us to do. Thank you for your prayers and support. We know that it is God and the prayers of His people that have made all the difference in the world in Micah's life. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, 10:30 a.m. Sorry it has been so long since my last update. I know some of you have been concerned. Thank you so much for your consistency and perseverance to walk with us and pray for us on our journey. We all are fairly healthy at the moment. I think since my last report Victoria also got sick. We have discovered a mold problem in our home that very well could have been the culprit to some of our extended health issues. We have been dealing with identifying and cleaning up the mold. We have tested it for toxic mold and further damage in our walls, and we checked out OK. The biggest problem is our single pane windows and the condensation with all the cold weather. Plus because of illness, we were running the humidifier all the time which was adding more moisture. Now that we are aware of this and because the weather is warming up, we are not having as much issue with the mold. The biggest help to prevent this in the future will be new windows. We are still working on the most feasible way to do this. You can continue to pray for protection from illness and good health for our family. We are also working on pursuing a doctor and a research hospital that would allow us to be involved in research for MPEI. We are excited to be at this place in our journey that we can try to be proactive for Micah and maybe help others. There is interest among the other families with children with MPEI to pool our information and make this disease better known. You can pray for God to lead us in these pursuits and to make clear to us what He wants us to do. |
