News from November 2008 Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 11:00 a.m. Well, it is a time of thanksgiving. As we reflect on the things we are most thankful for, you are at the top of the list. We are always so overwhelmed and blessed to know how many people continue to pray faithfully for us day after day, year after year. You are truly a part of the amazement and wonder of Micah's precious life. For we know his life is sustained and protected because of God's grace and ultimate purpose, but we know too that He listens to the prayers of his people and answers. Micah and our family are constantly lifted before the mighty throne of our powerful God, and those prayers are not in vain. We see the wonder of God's hand daily on his precious life. We are filled with thankfulness every day at the seemingly little things. His smile, his soft coo, and his strong movement to move his arms or pull his head up fill us with joy every single time. Praise God He has taught us through Micah to see the amazing in the things we all take for granted. I am reminded this week to not stop praying for the miraculous. Nothing is impossible with God, and I don't want to assume that He has done all he is going to do in Micah's physical body. Don't be afraid to pray with me that God will do a miraculous healing. As I read through the account of the blind man in the book of Mark again, I am reminded of God's sovereignty. This man was born blind. After 30 plus years of being blind, Jesus comes along and gives him sight. When the Pharisees ask "who sinned that he was born blind," Jesus answered "neither he nor his parents, but that the son of man would be glorified." God has showed me and comforted me with this story many times. I know that God has a purpose and plan for Micah. I know that it is far beyond my comprehension. I know that He has the power to heal and change his circumstances. I also know that if He never does, He still will use his life for his glory. I pray that you will reflect on all that God has done and praise him for his wonders. Happy Thanksgiving! We are so thankful for you. - The Patchin Family Monday, November 17, 2008, 8:30 p.m. Well, a lot has happened over the last couple of weeks. My dear grandmother went home to be with Jesus on November 1st. Although this was unexpected and sudden, we can praise God that He took her quickly and without warning. I traveled to Southern California last weekend to be with my family and to attend my Gram's funeral. It was an amazing time of reflecting on her life and her heart for Christ. It was very evangelistic. God gave me words to share at her service. It was a privilege to honor her and share the influence she has been on my life and to share what her life was all about. She loved Jesus with all her heart. She lived faithfully, and she prayed faithfully every day. She was an amazing prayer warrior, praying for every member of our family as well as so many others. We will miss being covered by her prayers. She has left a legacy of faith for our family that will continue for many generations. Micah continues to do well overall. The biggest news is that we finally have made contact with a Kaiser Dietician and will be meeting with her this Friday. She is working with us to increase Micah's water intake and to modify his diet to try and decrease the ratio of fat from the Ketogenic diet. We are hoping that increasing his fluid will help with the urine problems he has had. We also hope to decrease the Ketogenic diet so that he will not have so much fat in his diet. You could pray that as we make changes we will not see an increase in the number of seizures. Thank you so much for your prayers and love for our family. It truly means so much to us, and we know that God is answering prayer and revealing His power in our lives. |
