Worship: Sunday 8:45 a.m. 10:45 a.m. Bible Class: Sunday 9:55 a.m.		Gary Getchell Elder garygetchell@newharborchurch.com Biography Gary was involved in church while growing up, but due to living 20-30 minutes from "town" his activities were mostly limited to Sundays. His family has a small cattle ranch, and he grew up a little isolated from neighbors and school friends. Gary accepted Christ during a week-long youth retreat. Following high school, he drifted but credits God's working on him for his return to a Christian lifestyle. He and Jill have been married since 1991 and have two children, Katherine and Nicholas. Gary has built metropolitan fiber optic telecom networks since 1986. The Getchells joined New Harbor in 1996 after moving to Benicia. Gary fully rededicated himself to his Christian walk and was baptized in 1998 as a recommitment. He served as an elder previously with New Harbor for a total of four years. Jill and he are Directors of the 3rd to 6th Grade Awana clubs for the girls and boys. Gary has led adult discussion groups and Sunday School and has been involved in individual discipleship. He attends Bible Study Fellowship weekly to continue maturing his Christian walk. Gary says, "God can redeem and work within us to slowly bring a complete change and immeasurable blessings into our lives. I am frequently amazed at the complete changes within individuals and families through God's work in their lives—myself included." Favorite Things I enjoy traveling with my family, and we often choose to invest in an experience shared together rather than an item. I am a long-time reader and would say reading is on the top of my favorite things to do. I am a long-time science fiction reader. Music was important at an early age, and I love listening to it in the car. I like music from the 60’s to Alternative. Current Favorite Christian Artist: Casting Crowns Electronic gaming is an activity I enjoy and share with my kids. I really love doing it as a family. I play electronic games on the computer as well as on gaming consoles. Favorite Christian Books: Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis; Born Again by Charles Colson; The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey and Basic Christianity by John Stott.
